Prince Cole and Princess Samantha

Fate War: Alliance by EM Havens

Love is not easy, and especially for Prince Cole and Princess Samantha. Their relationship begins with a forced marriage and only deteriorates from there. Because of the experiences in his past, Cole is determined to at least have a companionable relationship with Samantha. She makes that nearly impossible though. Over the weeks Cole draws out Sam out of her preconditioned shell and eventually into his arms. He lights a fire in her mind and her heart. Together they make sparks fly in the tinker shop and the bedroom.

Vanessa and Ketchup

Wicked Hunger by DelSheree Gladden

Vanessa’s nearly uncontrollable hunger for pain and suffering has cost her more than she cares to explain. Losing her parents is a wound that will never heal. Watching her brother suffer in a psychiatric ward kills her. Losing Ketchup, it might have been the straw that broke her, but she has a small fragment of hope she clings to that one day she’ll have him back keeps her going. There must be a way to calm her brother, Zander’s hunger enough that he doesn’t want to kill Ketchup every time he sees him. It’s either that, or Van will have to choose between her one remaining sibling and the man she loves.
Ketchup doesn’t understand half of what Van goes through on a daily basis. He’s seen her do amazing things, scary things, but he isn’t running away. He never will. Van may not be willing to share everything about her dark past with him, but he understands more than she knows. He sees how much the burden of who she is weighs on her every day and he intends to do everything in his power to share the pain and despair she carries. Nothing she could ever tell him will make him leave. He just wishes he could make Van understand that and trust him with her secrets.

Santangelo and Nicola

Sugar Man’s Daughter by Lucy Crowe

Nic and Santangelo refused to participate in this contest, and in fact, suggested I seek counseling in order to overcome this constant desire for the limelight. They also expressed scorn when I threatened to have Johnny Depp and Penny Lane (of “Almost Famous” fame) stand in for them – Santangelo is more muscular than Depp, and definitely more Spanish. Nic wouldn’t be caught dead in that fur coat.
And so, in frustration – and okay, I’ll admit it, partly in retaliation – I turned to Disney, and I have to say I am pleased with the results. Aladdin is, indeed, the perfect Santangelo, and should my novel ever be animated (not likely, alas, given its somewhat dark and adult content) I would love to see him in the leading role. Like my character, he is quick and bright, and has a rather questionable reputation – beneath it all, an absolute prince. Not to mention, sexy as all get-out. And Rapunzel – the perfect Nic, all golden curls and bright eyes, sweet and bad tempered, too. My character is trapped her own tower as well, figuratively speaking.
And so, ladies and gents, I offer you . . . ta-daa! . . . The Steamiest Couple!

Braden and Libby

The Destroyer Trilogy by DelSheree Gladden

Guardian Braden was sent to capture, and if necessary kill, Libby’s boyfriend, Milo. Libby is meant to destroy the world, and the Guardians are her prime enemy. Not exactly a recipe for romance, right? Well, it wouldn’t be if not for the strange force compelling these two to stay in contact. Terrified of the connection, Libby does everything she can to keep Braden at a distance, but she has to admit, that boy is persistent! And his persistence is hard to resist.
Braden has no intention of letting Libby get away from him, and it’s no longer a professional interest. His mission was to find a way to kill her. It took barely more than a few minutes watching her fight to save a friend’s life for him to know everything the Guardians had taught him about the Destroyer was a lie. Now, h’s fighting to protect her without the Guardians finding out he’s double crossed them. Braden knows protecting Libby may cost him everything, including his life, but he has no doubt it’s worth it.

Wicked Hunger is getting a face lift, and today I’m revealing the new cover!

Vanessa and Zander Roth are good at lying. They have to be when they are hiding a deadly secret. Day after day, they struggle to rein in their uncontrollable hunger for pain and suffering in order to live normal lives. Things only get worse when Ivy Guerra appears with her pink-striped hair and secrets.

The vicious hunger Ivy inspires is frightening, not to mention suspicious. Vanessa’s instincts are rarely wrong, so when they tell her that Ivy’s appearance is a sign of bad things to come, she listens. She becomes determined to expose Ivy’s secrets. Vanessa tries to warn her brother, but Zander is too enamored with Ivy to pay attention to her conspiracy theories.

One of them is right about Ivy … but if they lose control of their hunger, it won’t matter who is right and who is wrong. One little slip, and they’ll all be dead.

Now that you know a little more about Wicked Hunger, I’d love to hear your thoughts!!

Surprise Post: Uriah Crowe (Twin Souls by DelSheree Gladden)

Today, Uriah, from Twin Souls, is taking the stage with a message and a warning.

My mother loved to tell me stories from our tribe when I was young. She always said that the stories carried our history. They carried the truth of who we are. Even from a young age, I understood the truth of her words. That didn’t mean I wanted to hear the stories. I feared that hearing about the heroes would change me into something I did not want to be. A hero. I wanted to tell her to stop, but she loved the stories so much that I could never ask such a thing.
So I listened, night after night, until I could no longer deny what I was destined to become.
The story I want to tell you now is not about a hero, but a warning to never forget who you are and where you come from. Knowledge like that is powerful and may save your life one day as it did mine.
***
Long before I was born, Deer Hunter and White Corn Maiden were born to my Pueblo, San Juan Pueblo. Deer hunter was revered because he never came back from a hunt empty handed. White Corn Maiden caught the other’s attention because of her fine pottery and beautiful embroidery.
The beauty of Deer Hunter and White Corn Maiden brought them together. They were favored of the Gods, but the Elders warned them not to become so enraptured with each other that they forgot their people. Against the Elders advice, the two spent more and more time together until Deer hunter stopped hunting and White Corn Maiden abandoned her pottery and embroidery. They forgot their religion and traditions despite warnings that harm would befall the village if they continued in this way.
Their selfishness caused them to pledge that they would never be parted, yet White Corn Maiden fell ill and died three days later. Her soul wandered for four days in order for her to seek forgiveness from those she had wronged in life. Deer Hunter could not accept White Corn Maiden’s death. He sought out her spirit and even though she begged him to let her go, he could not. He pledged his love once more and she relented, and did not allow her spirit and body to leave the mortal world as she was meant to.
Soon, Deer Hunter began to realize that keeping White Corn Maiden in the mortal realm could not last. She began to decay and he soon sought to escape her. White Corn Maiden could not leave him, though, and wasted to bones as she chased after him. The village wasted away along with her just as the Elders had warned.
Seeking to end the torture of the village, a majestic figure with a large bow and two arrows appeared in the village center, calling out for Deer Hunter and White Corn Maiden. When they appeared, he cursed them for their selfishness. Ruin had been brought to the village because of them. Their punishment for abandoning their religion and traditions was to serve as a reminder to the people of the Pueblo for all eternity of how important upholding their traditions and religion was. He placed Deer Hunter on one arrow and shot him into the sky. White Corn Maiden followed after him, both becoming stars that roamed the sky forever, White Corn Maiden eternally chasing behind her husband yet ever catching him.

Character Interview: Ketchup (Wicked Hunger by DelSheree Gladden)

Today I’m pleased to introduce Ketchup! Okay…that’s not his real name, but everyone has been calling him Ketchup for so long nobody remembers what his real name is!

1. Can you tell my readers who you are? Do you have a nick name you’d prefer I call you?
I’m Ketchup. Obviously that’s a nickname, and no I’m not going to tell you my real name. I probably wouldn’t even answer to my real name. It’s been so long since anyone’s actually called me that.
2. For those readers who are meeting you for the first time, what do you look like?
I get accused of looking like Superman with my black hair and build, but my eyes are brown not blue. Just so we’re clear, though, I look more like the Smallville Superman, not so much the spandex wearing cartoon version. You wouldn’t catch me dead in something like that.
3. What’s one feature a reader would recognize right away if they saw you?
Other than looking like Superman, probably my smile. Van loves it, anyway.
4. Girls love scars and interesting birthmarks. Any you’d like to reveal to your readers?
Not anything noticeable. I’ve got some little scars around my knuckles from slipping with my lock picks…but I probably shouldn’t go into too much detail about that.
5. Can you tell us a little about your family?
My mom is super busy with work, so she’s not around a whole lot anymore. That was different before her and my dad split up, but we make it work. My dad stays pretty busy too—or at least that’s what he tells me when he bails on visiting. Van feels more like family than my real family sometimes.
6. Who are you closest to, and who do you wish you were closer to?
Even as busy as my mom is, we’re still pretty close. She somehow always knows when I need to be grounded, or when I just need someone to talk to. Van is my best friend, though, and nothing she could ever tell me will change how I feel. I just wished she believed that.
7. Where do you call home, and has that always been the same place?
Born and raised in the desert. Some people think it’s ugly, but I like it here. That doesn’t mean I wouldn’t leave to stay with Van.
8. What is your biggest fear?
My biggest fear is not knowing what’s coming. I want to protect Van from whatever she’s facing, but if she won’t tell me what’s really going on I don’t know how to prepare. All I can do is watch and be ready…and make sure Van can’t see me keeping an eye on her house at night. She’ll claims she doesn’t need my help. Van isn’t wrong very often, but she is about this.
9. It seems like everyone else has a secret. Do you?
I’m not really the secret keeping type. I’m pretty up front about most things. Unfortunately, that has never helped me much with Van. Keeping other people’s secrets, though, that I can do.
10. What makes you laugh out loud?
Van’s and Laney’s expressions when I dump ketchup all over my food. Sometimes, I don’t even want ketchup, but I can’t resist grossing them out!
11. What is one strong memory that has stuck with you from childhood? Why is it so powerful and lasting?
The day Van saved my life. I don’t think I have to explain why that sticks in my head.
12. If you could take one night off and do anything you wanted (no repercussions), what would it be?
One night off, no repercussions? I’d take Zander somewhere out of the way and punch him in the face. He’d probably beat the crap out of me afterward, but it would be totally worth it. I have no idea what he has against me—I’ve never mistreated Van—but it’d be nice to take out a little frustration on him.
13. What does you most value in friends?
Honesty. I know Van is still working on this, but I’m willing to wait.
14. Which words or phrases do you get accused of over-using?
Did Van tell you to ask me that question? I’m sure she’s thinking about how many times I’ve told her I’m in love with her, but in my defense, it hasn’t sunk in for her yet. When she finally gets it, well, I’ll still say it all the time, but I don’t think it will bug her at that point.
15. If you could change one thing about yourself what would it be?
Whatever it is that Zander hates about me. I’m not sure what it is, but I’d happily change it if I could…if it meant being with Van for real.
16. Which talent of Van’s do you wish you could have?
Have you ever seen her heal herself? It’s pretty amazing. I’d love to be able to do that. My mom would have a harder time finding reasons to ground me if I never came home with scrapes or bruises.

Character Artwork: Olivia and Mason (Invisible by DelSheree Gladden)

My newest book, INVISIBLE, is currently being featured on Wattpad

In the first few months, INVISIBLE has received almost 700,000 reads from the amazing Wattpad members and lots of great comments and messages. One of those fabulous comments was from BruisedDreams, who created this unique banner for Invisible.

This is how BruisedDreams pictured Olivia and Mason at five years old when they first found each other…when Olivia spotted him crying on her front porch…when no one believed her that he was real because she was the only one that could see him. He wasn’t her imaginary friend, he was her best friend, and still is.

I love the banner, BruisedDreams! Thank you so much!

Character Interview: Vanessa Roth (Wicked Hunger by DelSheree Gladden)

Welcome, Vanessa Roth, from DelSheree Gladden’s YA novel, Wicked Hunger.

Vanessa Roth really tries to follow the rules her grandmother has put in place, because she knows it means keeping her secret safe, but it’s not easy. More often than not, her temper, emotions, or hunger land her in a whole mess of trouble.
1. How did you first meet your writer?
If I remember right, DelSheree was visiting Albuquerque for some kind of dental hygiene test. It seems like that’s all she was doing around that time. Anyway, I probably would have walked right by, but her daughter tripped and skinned her knee. Poor kid had forgotten her glasses again and didn’t see the curb. My hunger responded—don’t worry, I didn’t attack the poor girl—but my response caught DelSheree’s attention.
2. Want to dish about him/her?
As much as I enjoyed working with DelSheree, she tends to be a little forgetful. If she doesn’t put it in her phone with an alarm to remind her, shell space it out. Her life has been a little crazy, though, with school, job hunting, and family, so I understood and just sent a lotof reminders.
3. Did you ever think that your life would end up being in a book?
Oh, I pretty much knew someone would right my story from early on. I just expected it to be in the newspaper, under the crime blotter. Being the heroine of our story never crossed my mind.
4. Tell us about your favorite scene in the book.
I don’t want to give away too much, but under the bleachers after the football game. That is the first glimmer of hope that I can be honest with Ketchup about what I am and not have him run away.
5. Did you have a hard time convincing your author to write any particular scenes for you?
There is a scene where I’m working with Noah at his house that we had some arguments about. DelSheree wanted it to go one way, but I knew what direction it was really supposed to go.
6. What do you like to do when you are not being actively read somewhere?

Controlling my hunger is always a high priority, so you’ll usually find me doing ballet or practicing Jeet Kune Do.
7. If you could rewrite anything in your book, what would it be?
If I could rewrite anything, it would be before the book started when my brother Zander nearly killed Ketchup and ruined my chances of being with him.
8. Tell the truth. What do you think of your fellow characters?
Zander is one of the most pigheaded, frustrating people I know, but he’s my brother and I still love him. Ivy, that girl rubbed me wrong from the second I saw her stupid pink hair. Noah is so sweet and normal. Being around him makes me believe I can actually have that one day. Oscar, well, he’s certifiably nuts, but sometimes I still think he’s the sanest of anyone I know. And Ketchup…I better not say anything about Ketchup or I’ll jinx myself.
9. If you had a free day with no responsibilities and your only mission was to enjoy yourself, what would you do?
Disappear with Ketchup, and NO I won’t tell you where we’d go or what we’d be doing.

10. What impression do you make on people when they first meet you? How about after they’ve known you for a while?

When I first meet people, they generally think I’m weird and moody. I’m generally just trying not to kill them. Not many people stick around to get to know me, but the few who do realize I’m actually a pretty nice person—minus the hunger issues—and I love music and dancing.

11. What’s the worst thing that’s happened in your life? What did you learn from it?

Both of my parents were murdered, and it taught me that protecting my family comes before anything else, including personal relationships.

12. Tell us about your best friend.

My best friend is Laney. She never stops talking, falls off her shoes on a regular basis, and makes me laugh when I really need someone to pull me out of my dark thoughts.

13. What are you most afraid of?

Losing the people I love.

14. What’s the best trait your author has given you? What’s the worst?

That would probably be the same trait for both. Passion. I am a very passionate person when it comes to protecting my friends and family, but it tends to put me in hot water fairly often as well.

15. How do you feel about your life right now? What, if anything, would you like to change?

Pretty uncertain, actually. I know that there are some big, scary events on the horizon, but I can’t pinpoint what they are or who is going to set them in motion. I’ve had to put my life in the hands of someone I don’t trust at all and that scares me more than I can tell you.
16. What aspect of your author’s writing style do you like best?
DelSheree always manages to capture the emotion of a scene just the way I remember it happening. She makes people feel what I felt so they really understand my story.
17. If your story were a movie, who would play you?

I’d have to go with AnnaSophia Robb. She seems tough info to take on my life!
18. Describe the town where you live.
I live in Albuquerque, NM. It’s big enough for us to hide in, but secluded enough that we won’t draw a ton of attention if something goes wrong.
19. Describe an average day in your life.
I’ve got school, like most normal kids, but along with classes to suffer through, I have to deal with keeping my hunger in check. There are dozens of kids at school that my hunger wants to make a snack out of, so it can get tricky trying to dodge all of them. After school I try to feed my hunger through the physical pain hours of dance practice gives me. When all else fails, Zander and I can always use each other to keep our hunger in check.
20. Will you encourage your author to write a sequel?
I have been hounding her daily to finish the next book! She’s almost halfway through it, but I’ll keep on her until it’s complete and ready to land on the editor’s desk. Readers are already asking for the next book!

Meet the Characters Surprise Post: Invisible by DelSheree Gladden

For my surprise post, I wanted to unveil the book cover to my newest project, INVISIBLE, and introduce readers to Mason and Olivia.

Take a peek to find out more about this invisible boy and the girl who found him.

Cover Reveal for INVISIBLE!

The basis for this design came from the lovely Hannah Jennifer, a Wattpad reader who discovered Invisible through her friend and created a fan cover. She graciously allowed me to expand on her design, and this is what we came up with!

Now, let’s meet Mason and Olivia…

Olivia Mallory                                                                     Mason Harding

Mason and Olivia, care to introduce yourselves to the readers?

Olivia: Who first? Mason, you want to go? It’s not every day you get to talk to people like this.
Mason: (chuckles) True. Sure I’ll go first. I’m Mason, and I’m not a ghost. I’m not imaginary, although Olivia’s family was convinced of that at first. And we’ve all agreed I’m not a hallucination. I’m just invisible.
O: Yeah, he’s invisible, but that’s hardly the most important thing about him.
M: It’s pretty important.
O: Whatever. He’s also great at baseball, loves practical jokes, and is the best friend a girl could ever have.

So what about you, Olivia?

O: Me? Well, nothing so special as being invisible. I’m just the girl that can see him. The only one, in fact.
M: Except Robin.
O: (wrinkles her nose) Until Robin showed up, I was the only one who could see Mason.

And why is that?

O: (shrugs) Beats me, but I’m glad I can. I can’t imagine my life without Mason.
M: There are a lot of questions we don’t know the answers to when it comes to me.

Who is Robin?

M: She’s…a friend.
O: Friend? (shakes her head)
M: Robin knows I’m an Aerling.

An Aerling?

O: Mason’s not exactly…human. He came here from some other place. At least, that’s what Robin has said. I’m not claiming she’s trustworthy. I certainly don’t trust her.
M: We can trust her about this. I am invisible after all.

So, being invisible…what’s your typical day like?

M: Like anyone else’s, I suppose. I go to school, do chores, do homework, play catch with Olivia’s dad in the backyard.
O: (rolls her eyes) There are plenty of differences. Mason can’t really open doors in front of other people, so he has to wait for me or someone else to do it for him. He can’t carry things around either or it looks like its floating.
M: That does come in handy around Halloween, though.
O: (chuckles) True. We’ve had a lot of fun freaking people out.

What about your clothes? Do they disappear, or are you constantly walking around in your birthday suit?

M: (laughs) No, I’m not sitting here talking to you nude. My clothes disappear when I put them on, and so do things that I put in my pockets, but I can carry the cat around and turn her into Super Kitty no problem.
O: We don’t know why it works like that, but I think Mason’s doing it subconsciously.
M: No, I’m not. (shakes his head) It’s just how things work. Being invisible is the extent of my special abilities.
O: I highly doubt that.

Anything else you two would like to share before we sign off?

M: Being invisible seems like it should mean safety. Nobody can see you, right?
O: Not true.
M: Nope.
O: There are people who want Mason, and not to study him. They want him dead, and they’ll stop at nothing to make that happen.
M: It’s not going to happen. I won’t let it. And I won’t let them hurt you, either.
O: I won’t let them hurt you either, and I won’t let anyone take you away from me.

If readers want to hear the rest of your story, where can they find you?

O: Right now, readers can find our story on Wattpad, and we’ll be making our debut on Amazon in Kindle and paperback on October 14th.
M: Readers can also find out more about us here: Amazon Kindle US : Amazon Paperback US : Amazon Kindle UK : Amazon Paperback UK : B&N :  Kobo :  Goodreads :
