Shark In Troubled Waters

Sabine Saint Laurent is known as the Princess of Paris. Polite, beautiful, charming, polished…perfect.

Everything is always under control, and when it isn’t, she handles it. It’s been an eventful few years, but she’s made it through each upheaval with poise. Just as she’s looking forward to things calming down, her entire life is upended by a startling piece of news.

Aside from her agent managing her day-to-day affairs, Sabine does not ask for help. Not even from her close knit group of friends and family. So when she finds herself struggling to cope with major changes in her life, she’s determined to power through on her own. It should be easy enough. Everything is always easy for Sabine: modeling, men, money, languages, art, cooking. Finding out she’s pregnant shouldn’t be any different, right?

Except it’s not easy.

Nothing about navigating pregnancy, custody, complications, and a man she despises trying to seduce her is simple. Michael Moniteau’s intentions are questionable, but she desperately needs help and he’s the only one who understands enough to give it.

It could be the beginning or something wonderful, or it could break the heart she’s kept carefully shielded for so long.

Guys of Aerling Series

Meet the Guys of The Aerling Series.

Mason

Mason’s birthmark
(I’ll leave it at Mason for those who haven’t read it yet. Don’t want to give too much away!)
For those who have yet to meet Mason, he’s got a few distinguishing features.
Mason’s silver eyes
You might notice the interesting mark on his shoulder. It’s not a tattoo. What it means is a bit of a mystery until Robin comes stumbling into his and Olivia’s lives and turns everything upside down.
Notice anything unique about his eyes? If you’re around him long enough, you’ll not only be mesmerized by that odd silver ring, you’ll see how his emotions and power make it do some interesting things as well!
Lastly, if you meet Mason on the street, you won’t actually notice any of these things because, well, he’s invisible.

Hayden

Hayden
You may have some conflicting feeling about Hayden when you first meet him. Trying to figure out whether he’s friend or foe is no easy task! What is easy to figure out about Hayden?
Deals with Hayden usually involve a running tab of basketball time. Does he care that you suck at basketball and can’t stand the game? No, not at all.
There’s pretty much nothing he won’t do for Olivia. And trust me, following Olivia’s lead can get a person into some pretty bizarre situations. Wear something that won’t show stains. Blood is tough to get out of clothes.
Trying to pull something over on Hayden won’t get you very far. You may not be able to figure out where his loyalties lie, but chances are he had you pegged the moment you met.

Shane and Conner

Shane (10 years old)
You won’t meet these two cuties until book 2, but you won’t want to miss them. These two Aerling boys pretend to be polar opposites. We know the truth, though. Shane loves to cause trouble, cheat at games, and tease Molly relentlessly. Conner is the big brother to all of his foster siblings, and he takes that role seriously, especially when Sentinels are involved.
Either one of these boys will come through when you need them without a second
Conner (15 years old)

thought, even if that means coming clean on a long held secret cheater tactic or going on the run and into hiding.

They’ll keep you laughing when the Sentinels aren’t knocking on your door, but when the chips are down, there’s nothing these two will back down from when it comes to protecting their family, friends, and world.

The Scarred Sentinel

(His name is being purposely withheld because…well, because spoilers suck!)
Scarred Sentinel
What can you really know about a guy who attacks teenage girls in the middle of the night while walking across the basketball park, shows up at your house to diligently fix your dishwasher, or seems pretty much indestructible in a fight?
He may seem like a one-dimensional bad guy, but as the crew of the Aerling Series quickly realizes, very little is what it actually seems to be. Instead of spilling any secrets about this mystery man, I’ll just leave you with a question. If this guy is indestructible, where’d he get that scar?

Thanks for stopping by the meet the guys of the Aerling Series. If you’d like to get to know them a little better, I know just how to make that happen 😉 Book one is even FREE just ‘cause I know you’re all dying to get your hands on Mason and Hayden.

It’s getting closer!!! #Invincible #AerlingSeries

One of my most interesting writing journeys started just over a year ago…

I had joined Wattpad several years ago, but didn’t really know how to use it. I’d posted a few chapters and pretty much just left them there to sit. It wasn’t until a good friend of mine, the lovely Apryl Baker, started telling me how great Wattpad was for interacting with readers. She encouraged me to contact the admins at Wattpad about having Invisible featured. I only had four or five chapters up at the time, but I thought, why not?

That’s when things really got interesting…

The day Invisible launched as a featured book on Wattpad on September of 2013, my email notifications went bananas! All day and night I kept getting emails from Wattpad about new followers, comments, messages, etc. I was floored!
I also hadn’t finished the book yet, so I got busy writing! During that time I was out of town training for a new job, so I put the time to good use writing in the evenings after my temporary housemates had gone to bed. During those two weeks, I was able to finish writing the last half of Invisible and get it posted on Wattpad for the hungry readers nipping at my heels.

And then…

As soon as the last chapter was posted, dozens of comments popped up. All wanting to know the same thing. WHERE IS THE NEXT BOOK?!

While it was incredibly gratifying to know they were all so into the story the wanted the next installment right away, there was a small problem. I hadn’t even started writing it yet! Really, the only fix was to…well…grab my laptop and start writing! So I did.
INTAGIBLE took quite a bit longer to write, but it was finished in the spring of 2014, but that brought up another problem.
By that point, Invisible had already been published and was planned to be made a free book once Intangible was published. Publishing Intangible meant pulling it from Wattpad…and boy of boy, were my readers not happy about that!
I got some very unhappy messages for a while, but once I started a review exchange program on Wattpad, they forgave me and started asking for book 3…which I really hadn’t started on quite yet.

I knew they would keep asking…

…which really kept me motivated to be perfectly honest, so I started working on book three, INVINCIBLE. I got a few chapters written and posted on Wattpad, but that’s where it stalled out for a while. It wasn’t the ideas or writing mojo that had dried up, it was time. I had three books under contract with two different publishers during that time that all needed to be finished and prepped for publishing. They had contracts, so they had to take precedence.
I felt really bad not being able to put anything up for my loyal (and very vocal, lol) Wattpad readers, but there just wasn’t any time to work on Invincible for about six months. For readers who were used to getting new chapters every week, I’m sure they thought I’d died for a while there! Messages built up too fast for me to keep up with, all asking where book 3 was and how long it was going to take me to finish it.
It took me until just last month when NaNoWriMo crept up and demanded I be productive to get me on the move. It’s kind of a funny story in itself if you want to check it out! Anyway, I bribed myself and made it a priority to finish Invincible by Nov 30th, 2014 so I could have it edited and ready to release on Dec 24th, Christmas Eve, a Christmas present to my Wattpad readers for sticking in there with me through terrible cliffhangers, unbearable moments of uncertainty in Mason and Olivia’s story, more unanswered questions than you can shake a stick at, and long gaps of radio silence from me.

You guys are the best! This entire series is for all my Wattpad readers who pushed me to keep telling Mason and Olivia’s story until all the questions were answered and they finally got to find out what happened at the end.

Even though Invincible wraps up The Aerling Series, I know those who got to share Mason and Olivia’s story will never really let it end.

Invincible, and all the Aerling books, are available now on your favorite ebook platform as well as paperback.

Invincible is only up for pre-order right now, but when you click it, it’ll will put you on the Christmas order list and by the time you wake up Christmas morning, the final chapter of Mason and Olivia’s story will be there waiting for you. Merry Christmas to all my Aerling fans!

And don’t forget Invisible and Intangible is you haven’t already grabbed your copies!

Shark Out Of Water is Finally Here!!!!

Celebrating the Release of
Shark Out of Water
Date Shark Series (Book 2)
by DelSheree Gladden

Guy Saint Laurent is too busy cursing his sister for roping him into taking over Eli’s Date Shark business to prepare himself for the slew of bizarre women he’s about to get involved with. This is the last venture he intended to take on, but somehow he’s just become Chicago’s newest, most reluctant Date Shark.

On top of dealing with bug-toting, mothering, obsessive women, Guy faces personal tragedy that changes his outlook on life, whether he wants it to or not. He’s not sure what it is about Charlotte Brooks that draws him in, but getting her off his mind after a brief encounter proves impossible.

As Charlotte tries to help Guy deal with his loss, he begins to get the impression she’s hiding something from him. He knows he could simply walk away, continue as he always has, but he suspects whatever she’s hiding, she won’t be able to face it alone.

Charlotte is the one woman who can capture his attention, but she may also be the one woman capable of breaking him.

Charlotte was breathless when he pulled back, and the plaintive expression on her face killed him, but he had accomplished his goal. He gestured to the IV hooked to her arm and Charlotte stared at it in surprise. “I didn’t even feel it!”
“I told you I could distract you.”
“Damn near distracted me, too,” the nurse muttered.

Excerpt

Vance was smart enough to see signs that Guy was now on the defensive. He redirected, asking, “Tell me about Charlotte. Why are you having deep conversations with her instead of flirting and seducing her back to your flat?”
Sulking like a child, Guy muttered, “Je ne sais pas.”
“You don’t know?” That seemed to truly surprise Vance. “Well, I suggest you find out.”
“What?” Guy snapped. “That is your advice to me? Find out?”
Vance nodded. “Oui, mon ami. Find out why Charlotte has done what it has taken me years and years to do. Why let down your barrier between public and private for someone you barely know when I had to practically force you to do the same thing today.”
“Why?”
“Why?” Vance repeated. “Because you need to know. You won’t stop obsessing about her until you do.”
Obsédé? Who says I am obsessing over her?”
Vance folded his arms across his chest. “She is in your thoughts so much that you mentioned her name when you clearly had no intention of revealing her to me.” Leaning forward, he looked at his friend seriously. “Guy, I have known you for a long time. You have surprised me today, but I know how you can be like a dog with a bone. You’ll drive yourself crazy wondering what it is about Charlotte that got past your defenses until it either drives you crazy or you figure it out. Given the line of work we’re in, I’d suggest figuring it out.”
“I thought I was here to talk about Patricia,” Guy grumbled.
Leaning back with a smirk, Vance said, “We are. Just had to find something you wanted to talk about even less to spur you on, apparently.” He shook his head when Guy rolled his eyes. “Something else is bothering you when it comes to Patricia. The funeral is tomorrow. You’re avoiding talking about it. Why?”
Guy did not respond right away. His breathing escalated to the point that Vance reached forward and put a hand on his shoulder. “Her parents… they came to see me at the hospital.”
“How did they react?”
Shaking his head, he still struggled to understand their reaction. Instead of answering Vance’s new question, he answered the original one. “They requested I stand as a pallbearer.” His head fell into his hands. “I don’t know if I can. It is too difficult.”
“It will undoubtedly be difficult,” Vance said with compassion, “but it is difficult for Patricia’s parents as well. They see you as the one person who truly tried to help her. I think it comforts them to think of you being there to help her on this one last transition.”
“I don’t know if I can do this for them.”
Vance squeezed Guy’s shoulder. “You don’t have to if it is too much.”
“Not doing it feels like a betrayal of Patricia.”
“Guy, don’t make this about Patricia or her parents. What do you feel comfortable with and how do you want to say goodbye to Patricia?”
That was not an easy question. Guy sank back into the chair. Vance waited with the patience of a saint as Guy forced himself to confront the answers. He had been through so much with Patricia, watched her move forward only to fall so far again and again. She never stopped trying, and he never stopped trying to help her. “I want to help her this one last time,” Guy said finally.
“Then call Patricia’s parents when you get home and tell them you’ll be there.”
Feeling more at peace, Guy nodded.
“Stephanie and I will be there as well.” Vance held his friend’s gaze for a moment longer, making sure he knew he did not have to face the funeral alone. When Guy’s shoulders relaxed, Vance sat back. “Now why don’t you tell me about the day you met Patricia?”
As Guy began recounting the first time Patricia came into the crisis center wanting to talk about everything from the side effects of the medications she was taking to how her puppy would not stop peeing on her kitchen floor, his thoughts returned to Vance’s earlier challenge. Patricia had struck a chord with him, and so had Charlotte, in surprisingly similar ways. He understood why he has connected with Patricia, a struggling and confused young woman, but Charlotte was more of a mystery. What would it take to find out why Charlotte had affected him so much?

The Story Behind the Story…

Catching up on a few things…

It’s been a while since I’ve blogged… sorry about that!
The craziness of the last month is finally beginning to die down and I wanted to share the brand new, fabulous cover art for my upcoming contemporary romance, SHARK OUT OF WATER, the second book in the Date Shark series.
Shark Out of Water is available for pre-order now, and it will release 10/21/14. You can find it on Amazon here

Shameless self-promo over, back to the title.

I wanted to share with you all part of the inspiration behind this story. In book two, readers will follow Guy and Charlotte, rather than Leila and Eli from the first book, though you still get to see what’s going on in their lives.
Readers and bloggers will often ask authors if they based their characters on any real people. Charlotte is not based on a real person, but part of her story came from one really incredible woman. Friends and readers who’ve been following me for a while know that I’ve always had a turbulent relationship with my mom. Because of that, when I needed a female role model as a child, it was my grandma that I looked to.
My grandma, Esther May Shrum, is one of the most amazing people I have ever had the privilege to know. She is currently ninety years old, has been through so much in her life time, from wars and police corruption to illness and loss of loved ones. She has been battling leukemia for the nearly a decade, been through chemo four times and radiation twice, and nearly died recently after side effects of a new cancer drug were almost too much for her to bear.
Through everything she has been through, she’s always faced it with courage and strength. Until a recent fall, she was still out weeding her flower beds and walking to church every Sunday on her own. We thought we were going to lose her recently, but against all odds she pulled through and is doing much better. She faces her trials with grace and refuses to give up.
My grandma has taught me so much over the years. She was a guide to me as a child when I really didn’t have one and she has always been an example to me of what I should want to be when I grow up. I have so much respect for her and I’m so glad my kids have had the chance to spend time with her over the last few years.
As I wrote this book, I thought of my grandma often, not just because of the trials she’s been through, but because I wanted to share a little piece of her strength and courage with my readers through Charlotte and Guy’s story. This book is very close to my heart because of that and I truly hope my readers not only enjoy the story, but feel a connection with the characters and maybe draw a little strength from them if they’re facing something difficult.

Who has been the biggest role model in your life?

Luck 13?

This spring has been a marathon of book releases!

Last fall, my original spring book-related plans involved releasing Intangible (Aerling Series #2) and Soul Stone (Escaping Fate #2).

Two books, that’s not to bad, so how did it turn into releasing FIVE books within four months?

It started with the fact that the publisher I was signed with at the time was not holding up their end of the bargain and I was very unhappy with them. I ended up breaking contract and taking Wicked Hunger back. I wasn’t looking for another publisher (I was pretty done with that by then), but my friend Leah recommended Clean Teen Publishing to me. Now, Leah always has the best ideas, so naturally, I listened.

At the same time, another friend and fellow author, the talented Apryl Baker, recommended her publisher, Limitless Publishing, to me for Invisible, which was doing really well on Wattpad then and now.

So, I decided to test them both out. I sent a query for Wicked Hunger to CTP and one for Invisible to Limitless. CTP got back right away and absolutely loved Wicked Hunger and wanted the whole series. They were so put together and excited, I decided to risk what could possibly be another bad publishing experience, and signed the series with them. I am absolutely thrilled that I did because they have been amazing, and that added two more books to my spring release schedule, since Wicked Power was nearly finished at the time.

Limitless had been inundated with queries at the time I submitted, since the only rarely open up for
submissions, and by the time they got to Invisible they had already closed YA submissions. But… they still read the book, liked my writing, and asked if I had a contemporary romance. As it so happened, I did! I sent them Date Shark, which was scary because NO ONE else had read it (I don’t recommend this), but they loved it and offered me a contract for a three book series. I was thrilled, and it added one more book to the spring schedule, topping it off at 5.

This spring has been incredibly hectic having released two indie books and three traditionally published books, but I wouldn’t trade the craziness for anything. I now have 13 published books, all of which I am so thrilled to share with my readers. Wicked Hunger and Wicked Power are doing awesome thanks to the tireless hard work of the CTP team, and Date Shark just hit the digital and regular shelves. I consider myself so amazing blessed to have found two publishers willing to get behind me and my books, even when I’m up late at night finishing edits or writing blog tour posts or sharing links on every Facebook group known to man. I also have some of the most amazing fans who share my books with anyone who will listen and never lose their enthusiasm.

If you want to see what all the craziness has been about, you can find my new releases here:

Wicked Hunger (FREEBIE)

Soul Stone
Intangible

So, what’s coming up this summer?

Lots and lots of writing. My Wattpad fans are waiting for Invincible (Aerling Series #3) as patiently as the possibly can. CTP is eager for Wicked Glory (Someone Wicked #3). Limitless has Date Shark #2 on the schedule. I also have Oracle Lost outlined and waiting patiently for its turn. It’ll be a busy summer, but I’m looking forward to it!

What do your summer reading plans include?

COVER REVEAL: WICKED POWER by DelSheree Gladden
Book 2 in the Someone Wicked This Way Comes Series.
Release Day: May 1, 2014
Genre: YA Paranormal Romance
Clean Teen Publishing
Find out why Kirkus Reviews said: The pairing of a formulaic start and formula-breaking ending makes the book ideal for paranormal-romance readers seeking a new spin on the familiar.

“Wicked Power is what he craves. He collects it and turns it into wicked glory—the glory of ruling everything and everyone.”
Even after Vanessa and Zander Roth barely survive the Eroi’s attempt to expose them for what they are, they aren’t safe. Sitting balanced on the edge of impending death and unthinkable power, they reluctantly turn to the other Godlings for help.
What they find and learn while being trained by the arrogant leader makes them question whether they are being trained to be a weapon for good or evil. Soon enough, Van and Zander find themselves once again on opposing paths.
A lot of things happen to Godlings as they near their sixteenth birthday, including the impending full strength of their hunger. When Van starts exhibiting some strange abilities, which include a heightened intuition and frightening visions of the future, she soon learns that she’s not like the others. She knows she must do everything she can to protect her secrets from their leader, who will use her as a weapon if he finds out. Thankfully, Van is not alone. She has the help of her best friend—and the one boy she shouldn’t be falling in love with—Ketchup.
While Van is dealing with her own problems, Zander finds himself embracing the training of the Godlings, even though their methods are cruel and harsh. He finds himself clinging to the hope that he can redeem himself, even after falling into Ivy’s trap and putting their family’s lives in danger. Along the way, Zander finds himself falling for an unlikely accomplice, who has him wondering if he even loved Ivy at all.
Redemption and protection both take a backseat when a shocking discovery puts everything they have worked for in jeopardy. The choice between safety and freedom has never been more important, and in the end… they may not have a choice at all.
Wicked Power is the second book in the all-new paranormal series, Someone Wicked This Way Comes.

WICKED HUNGER by DelSheree Gladden

AVAILABLE NOW!
Genre: YA Paranormal Romance
Publisher: Clean Teen Publishing

“Save him and hurt him, don’t save him and hurt him. Pain, either way. Delicious pain. Hunger will be the only one that wins. Hunger always wins.”

Vanessa and Zander Roth are good at lying. Their whole life is a giant web of deceit made in an effort to conceal the deadly secrets that plague their family.

Zander will do anything to forget his mistakes, including pushing everyone away. He was barely surviving in his self-forced solitude before Ivy Guerra entered his life. The new girl in school, with her pink-striped hair and unyielding curiosity, incites something wicked inside Zander that can only be blamed on his family genes. Now Zander is forced to fight an internal war and make a choice between loving Ivy Guerra and killing her.

Vanessa wants nothing more than to shed the strange powers she wields and be normal. Because if Van were normal, she’d be able to have normal things… Like a relationship with the boy she’s been secretly in love with for years. Unfortunately, her life is anything but ordinary. That boy who owns her heart just happens to be her brother’s kryptonite and a potential liability for her entire family. When choices between love and family loyalty have to be made, Van finds herself faced with an impossible decision.

As if the Roth family needs anything more to worry about, a vicious plot to expose Van and Zander for what they are is uncovered. When it becomes apparent that someone close to them is at the center of this devious plan, the fight to maintain control and keep their cover ensues. It’s a seemingly impossible battle because something is causing their powers to stir stronger than ever before… and it won’t stop until Van and Zander give in to their wicked hunger.

Wicked Hunger is the first book in the all-new paranormal series, Someone Wicked This Way Comes.

KIRKUS REVIEW OF WICKED HUNGER

Teenage siblings with a dark secret find their lives complicated by the arrival of a mysterious girl.
Zander and Van are tougher and heal faster than ordinary teenagers. However, the price is a terrible, mysterious hunger—a bloodlust that becomes intensified by specific individuals. Younger Van does her best to suppress it so she can have friends and a normal life; Zander instead keeps everyone at arm’s length and warns Van that once her 16th birthday hits and her powers reach full strength, she should do so as well. Ivy, a new girl—cousin to one of Van’s friends—puts everything at risk. Both Zander and Van hunger to hurt her, but Zander falls for her in a push-pull love story reminiscent of Twilight, right down to Zander’s sneaking into Ivy’s room to watch her sleep. Van, however—when she’s not busy with a love triangle of her own, with a mysterious boy she’s just met and her trusty best friend, Ketchup—is suspicious that certain things don’t add up with Ivy. The conclusion, made strong by unraveling secrets and formula-shattering twists, sets up a sequel.
The pairing of a formulaic start and formula-breaking ending makes the book ideal for paranormal-romance readers seeking a new spin on the familiar. (Paranormal romance. 13-17)
